Additionally, WED will host its first annual Choose Women Wednesday on November 29, 2017 to celebrate and support women-owned businesses.
The inaugural observance of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Colorado (WEDColorado) will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 at The Commons on Champa in Denver. Sylvia Scott, Founder and CEO of Girls’ C.E.O. Connection has been selected as the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Ambassador Colorado for 2017.
Women entrepreneurs and leaders in tech, business, non-profit and education will come together to celebrate their role in Colorado’s entrepreneur ecosystem. Highly accomplished women entrepreneurs will share how they see the growth of women-owned businesses in Colorado.
Colorado recognizes the important role that women have as leaders in business and industry who contribute to Colorado’s economy, workforce, and overall quality of life; more than ever, women are making a difference in Colorado through their contributions inspired by a centuries old entrepreneurial spirit and fueled by their resourcefulness, innovation and ingenuity.
During the day participants will share their triumphs and trials of owning a business in Colorado as well what women entrepreneurs bring to the table in Colorado’s economy. Young female entrepreneurs in high school will be joined by mentors to discuss their experience in launching and building businesses.
“It’s an honor to be part of such a unique initiative. November 17th – which marks the global celebration and observance of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day – will serve as a launch pad for ideas and business opportunities for the community as a whole. Celebrating, supporting and empowering women is vital for business and communities to flourish and grow,” commented Sylvia Scott, Ambassador for Colorado for 2017. “Today we come together as a network to achieve success to help and support female entrepreneurs everywhere.”
Registration for the Colorado WED event on November 17 is free and the list of speakers is being announced in coming days.
The regional WED ambassadors have been working diligently to create events simultaneously with WED’s annual event which will take place on Friday, November 17th at the United Nations in New York City. Everyone will come together to join WED’s mission in alleviating poverty by empowering, celebrating and supporting women in business worldwide.
“It’s inspiring to see women across the globe unite for a single cause,” said Wendy Diamond, Founder and President of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day. “By donating their time, effort and resources to Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, they are not only celebrating, supporting and empowering women in business in over 100 countries, but also contributing to global unification.”
In 2016, WED achieved record-breaking participation with over 35,000 participants worldwide. This year, the organization hopes to increase participation and create a global think tank of women leaders who will advocate for WED’s mission year round.
“Empowering women worldwide and investing in their futures helps to drive and promote economic vitality and security locally and globally,” said Diamond. “Twenty-first century leadership skills, such as cooperation, communication, and sharing are more commonly associated with women. We want to celebrate the unwavering positives that women entrepreneurs bring to the global economy as well as inspire and support future generations of women entrepreneurs.”
